On Breaking Barriers in a $95 Billion Industry
with Anja Winikka, CMO & Co-founder of Maroo
Raise your hand if you’re ready to tackle the ever-so taboo topic of finances within the wedding industry.
Trust me, I’m with you.
Meet Anja Winikka, CMO and Co-founder of Maroo, a platform designed to make paying for a wedding simple, fair, and support couples as well as the small business owners that power the wedding industry. Think: buy now, pay later.
Anja’s love for the wedding industry began in 2005, where she joined The Knot as a copy editor. As she spent 10+ years with a bird’s eye view within the wedding community, Anja couldn’t help but notice a barrier that was affecting couples as well as industry professionals: poor financial communication.

On this episode of End of the Night, Anja shares, “it is so confusing to couples who have never done this before and are spending more money than they ever have. They may not understand the value that they’re getting because we are not apples to apples, we’re planners, designers, florists, photographers, and more.” We know if there is one industry of professionals ready to take on a challenge, it’s the wedding industry.
Anja and I discuss how we can simplify the conversation surrounding finances, how Maroo came to be, and of course — why we are so proud to be a part of this passionate, creative, and hardworking industry.
It’s one you won’t want to miss.
